There is no doubt this has been the longest mud season in quite some time. Winter just keeps hanging on day after day; more snow, rain & clouds. Our winter wardrobes should have been put away long ago and it’s causing us to go a little stir-crazy.
Read more »April is that time of year when we start to see dramatic changes around Steamboat. We call it “mud season” and if saw my car you’d know why. Ski season ends, businesses close, snow melts, rivers rise and Aspen trees wake up.

Read more »No Shoveling November in the Rockies always seems to be a crazy month. While November host the start of ski season November also has some amazing, warm fall days. Sometimes winter seems impossibly far off and we need a reminder that winter really is coming (it’s 64 degrees as I write this).

Read more »Summers in Steamboat are too short. That’s too bad because summer is my favorite season as it is for most I know in Steamboat. With so much to do, great weather and lots of daylight we just love being outside. July is especially fun with a big event every weekend and great tubing on the Yampa river.

When spring arrives in Steamboat Springs and the snow melts, one of my favorite places to go is to the top of Farwell Mountain in North Routt. Getting to the top is really fun via some fairly good 4WD trails Once at the top you have an incredible panorama view.
